The third drug bust in Bucyrus in a week last Friday took 159 foil balls of suspected heroin off the streets.

That came after two unrelated busts a few days earlier. Bucyrus police Chief David Koepke will take the arrests whenever and wherever he can get them. "You can't predict where evidence will lead you," he said. "We've seen a lot of colored balloons containing heroin. These particular ones were wrapped in foil." It led officers to three locations in the city.

Several arrests were made on Warren, Wiley and Walnut streets. That included a father and son team working from the same address. "Wiley Street was the result of a Neighborhood Watch situation," Koepke said. "It wasn't any different than it was in September (site of a previous drug arrest)." But that wasn't the end of the sweep. See DRUGS, Page 2A with items such as candy and stickers.

"The city employees used to host the Easter egg hunt, and last year, the Crawford County Young Professionals group did it. This year, Walmart is donating candy and took up donations for the prize Easter baskets for the hunt. The Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce is also helping," said Mayor Roger Moore. Moore said the Chamber sent out an email requesting local businesses to sponsor the prize baskets. "The cost is about $30 per basket and several individuals and businesses have helped out.

Also, a couple of local businessmen, through the Community Foundation of Crawford County, donated $500 for additional supplies," Moore said. Walmart manager Angela Sloan said there will be four age groups for the hunt and the goal is to have at least three prize baskets per each age group. "There will be a zero to preschool group, kindergarten and first grade, second and third grade and fourth and fifth," Sloan said. Eunice Collene, the city's administrative assistant, said she will deliver the plastic eggs and the items to be placed inside to five area nursing homes in the next few days.
