Crestline A Secession Bearer of Dispatches Captured A man named Lowber of New Orleans was arrested at Crestline on Saturday last by order of the Government It appears be had just returned from Europe via Montreal Canad i and was on his way South bearing a number of dispatches to the rebel government Secretary Seward hearing these facts ordered his arrest Traces of him were found at various points and was finally met at Alliance by a New York detective who Was in search of him Thinking it not best to arrest him there he came on the train with him to Crestline where he arrested him When the officer took him into custody he made no resistance but took it most philosophically merely saying expected It is evident he feared an arrest and was not at ail surprised Lowber acknowledged that he was the bearer of dispatches from England to Jeff Davis but said that he was ignorant of their contents or purport The dispatches were in bis trunks and are in safe custody There were about twenty Southern men from New Orleans on the same train with Lowber The officers having him in charge took him to Washington His object in coming out West was doubtless' to find some mode of escape to Dixie as the military surveillance is not sorigid here as in the East Mr is a respectable looking man gray haired and is apparently about forty-five years of age Herald Crawford County Agricultural Fair By
